About Us

Ambedkar Foundation is a trust that works in education, women’s empowerment, and rural development, sustainable development, health, and many more social activities. AMBEDKAR FOUNDATION was registered in 2009 under the Indian Trust Act 1882 by a group of like-minded people to cater to community development services in Jharkhand state. In the initial stage, an organization started its work by forming Self Help Groups and strengthening them. It started its activities in Hazaribag, Giridih, and Chatra District. Then it established collaboration with the government and trustees, such as the District Rural Development Authority (DRDA), Block Development Offices, Jharkhand Van Adhikar Munch (JVAM), Forest Rights Act (FRA), Health Department, Agriculture Department, SC/ST/OBC Minority Education, and other Trustees to get more support towards catering to more development activities in the community. Our major target groups are women and children, SC/ST, minorities, and other backward communities. Our mission is to organize, educate, and empower the rural poor and deprived community through community mobilization, training, advocacy, and entitlement for socioeconomic growth, cultural promotion, ecological balance, and self-reliance.

Over the years, Ambedkar Foundation has grown from its humble beginnings into a recognized force for change in the region. It started by identifying key challenges faced by rural communities, including limited economic opportunities, gender inequalities, and inadequate healthcare access, etc., and by tackling these problems, we have contributed to delivering benefits to the 180+ villages.

Some of the programs run by us for the welfare of rural people are:

● Awareness campaign on child labour and anti-trafficking.
● Skill development training programs for female candidates from that region.
● We organized several to support education for rural children.
● HIV/AIDS Awareness programs.
● Environment protection initiatives.
● Mask, hand gloves, sanitizer distribution, PP kit, and major support for the people during COVID-19.
● We have distributed 2500+ kits to the rural population and developed the infrastructure of villages.
● We have planted 10,000 trees along with Goonj.
● Our cleft lip treatment campaign has benefited more than 100 children and also provided several health services to the rural population.
● We have worked in more than 250 villages and delivered 3500+ citizen’s land ownership rights (PATTA) as per the Forest Rights Act while partnering with JJVA and JVAM.
